“I absolutely LOVE this product” I have been using it for over ten years and it is by far, my favorite piece of backpacking equipment and the yummy foods it creates makes it well worth its extra weight in my pack! -Marla, Georgetown, TX “Never clean a pot again!” My backpacking meals are so much better now that I use a Bakepacker! My favorite part is there is no mess to clean up afterwards. Simply tie your empty cooking bag in a knot and pack it out. “BakePacker Rocks!” We love the BakePacker. It's the most versatile tool I bring camping. I do agree with the previous posting that the stuff takes longer than the recipes state. For instance, when we bake a cake, it takes about 40 minutes rather than the 20 minutes the booklet claims. Still, it's awesome. We make baked omelettes in it and they come out perfectly with no mess. We also reheat precooked rice in it, and even steam vegetables... all with no mess. Definitely like it for the cakes. Bring a jar of Nutella along for frosting. Love it. -Tsan, Berkeley “This is the coolest gear ever!” I found the Bakepacker and decided to try it out. It has fast become my favorite camping kitchen tool and I now own a second one! I love the ability to make muffins for breakfast, cake for dessert, and add extra noodles to the freeze dried meals. I'm also having fun adapting meals that I really enjoy to my bakepacker. I regularly rave about this tool to anyone who looks remotely interested. :-) The only complaint I have ever had is that things seem to take a lot longer to cook than the recepe indicates. I don't know if I'm not cooking at a high enough temperature, have too much water in the recipe, or if it's due to the pan being just slightly larger than the tool. It really doesn't matter, I just experiment at home to get a better idea of how long it will take to cook. Thanks for designing this great tool! -Jeri Lynn C. “Close to Home Baked” I really like the backpacker because of its light weight. - It easily fits inside a standard pot. Food is cooked in a bag that sits on this metal screen thing. Essentially the food is "steam baked" in the bag. - I find food to be a bit "wetter" than normal baked goods but pretty darn good. Add to it the fact that you are enjoying it in the backcountry and life does not get any better.- One other positive is that you can use it with a canister stove unlike an outback oven where the fuel source has to be separate. -Deanna, Crested Butte, CO

“8 inch - No Problem” I have had the 8 inch Outback Oven Ultralight forever. I discovered foccacia bread, using their packaged foccacia. Thank you, Outback Oven!Hot fudge brownies or pizza are delightful.I have unfailing success with the new SOTO OD-1R Regulator Stove w/optional windscreen. The flame is controlled. It has a steady flame, until the canister is entirely empty. Their optional windscreen is an added safety factor. (The canister needs to be cool to the touch.) -ConnieD, Montana “Our Favorite piece of camping gear!” We've had one for about 8-10 years. Not very ultralight) and the Outback Oven works like a charm. My stove is one of those old (20 years old) MSR canister stoves (they look like the Whisperlite) and we've never had a problem. What a treat to have hot brownies or fresh pizza twenty miles from the trailhead! -Wilderness Dining “Consider the 10 inch!” The smaller diamater of the pot parka, combined with a hard-to-adjust stove, can make if difficult to prevent scorching the pot parka and creating a plume of smoke as one bakes.
